Dr. Suwanee Chawla
MBBS, MPH, FRACGP
Warm, thorough and genuinely interested in her patients’ stories, Dr Suwanee Chawla is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners who has built her career around getting to know families over the long term — not just treating the problem in front of her.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Adelaide in 2006 and spent her early career across South Australia’s major public hospitals, gaining a broad grounding in acute and complex care. A Master of Public Health from the University of Queensland later sharpened her focus on prevention, chronic disease and population health, and she has taught medical students at the University of Adelaide along the way. Following her Fellowship, she pursued further training and is a Certified Weight Management Specialist (SCOPE). She has particular interest in helping patients achieve sustainable health and wellbeing through a holistic approach to weight management.
Dr Chawla has been part of the Arkaba Medical Centre team since 2021, following the completion of her GP Fellowship training.
